Time Out Support
Our ‘Time Out’ clubs are for those aged 65 years plus who are lonely or those living with dementia.
We provide a welcoming, vibrant but relaxed space, where we encourage our clients to be creative, reflective and active as well as enjoying the friendship of others.
Our teams are trained in all aspects of support work and providing an engaging and participative programme of activities each day.
Each session starts with a warm welcome and a drink (and maybe a biscuit or two) and a chance to chat to the team and the others in the group. The structure of the day develops as the day goes on but can included a craft or a themed activity, music or singing or the playing of carefully selected table based and group pastimes. We ensure there is an opportunity to be more physical so no-one is sat for too long.
We have tailored games and activities to encourage reminiscence, independence, stimulation and fun. All we learn from your loved one we put together is a ‘life history’ so we can continue the conversation at any time. Our primary aim is for all clients to have had a good day, allowing their carers to achieve for themselves while they are well looked after.
Both clubs provide refreshments both hot and cold throughout the day as well as biscuits and cake mid-morning. Our lunch menu has a variety of meals and we can tailor particular meals to suit the needs or special diets of any clients.
We love to sing and make a noise as music has an important role to play in everyone’s life and we encourage everyone to join in. There is always time to enjoy activities that lighten the mood of the group, promoting fun and laughter as well as letting off a little steam.
We would like relatives and carers to be part of what we do and welcome your feedback, comments and any background detail you can provide. We also offer a support group which meets monthly, made up of those who have clients in our clubs. This is an opportunity to share discuss and learn from others in similar situations to yourselves. Letters are sent out asking for feedback through a quarterly survey to families so any concerns or issues can be raised, highlight any session or activity for particular praise or tell us what your loved ones have enjoyed and recalled to you.
Our Vision for the ‘Time Out’ clubs is:
A time and space for meaningful engagement, reminiscence and fun. Where everyone is included, respected and valued.
